Well, for most of my applications, the Nikon 200VR has several important advantages over the Canon 200 1.8.
The latter has no USM, no IS and at f/2 the Nikon IQ is better (according to most tests ). The seven pound non-IS Canon is more difficult to hand hold and has significant corner light fall off at f/1.8 and more light falloff at f/2 than the Nikon.
