"What did I expect?" To learn more of Ray Barlow's unique skills utilizing the Nikon 200-400 mm VR lens and his special techniques for capturing the essence of both in flight and static bird photography. "What did I receive in return?"
A very fairly priced adventure with images I never expected to obtain. Hummingbirds are tough: always moving faster than a single shot could ever capture except with luck. Indigenous Costa Rican birds are magnificent and with good planning of camera location, background, and proper settings the results can be very satisfying.
Finally, perseverance and trust of the local guides are worth the effort of lugging of equipment and the unexpected to bring home special memories. This is a trip for photographers; no frills, just good shooting and education, good company, splendid Costa Rican people, and great food.
