Fall is obviously a special time of year for photography. It's one of those times when there's a picture everywhere and a picture nowhere. What I mean by that is that many things are nice to look at but don't make a nice composition. It takes a lot of work to find nice compositions amongst all the brilliant, and sometimes overwhelming color. Something that stands out. The Midwest doesn't lend itself to big fall scenes like the hills and mountains of Colorado or the Appalachian states do. Even those are rare. So I look for small scenes, with simplicity, but diversity. Macro photography is also more difficult with 4x5 because you have to make slight lighting compensations for longer bellow lengths.
