Just awesome shots! I am learning more about photography every day, and I am totally inspired by your work! The McHenry area is truly blessed to have some wonderful landscape, and you really present it well. I have some of my creations at www.createtheinspiration.com Thanks for displaying your art, it really motivates me to work on my landscape skills. JD

Hi Ray.. We met you on the rim trail in Canyonlands. Your pictures are beautiful - we love the ones from the Valley of Fire. We will definitely be going there! We were apprehensive about driving the Shaffer Trail out of the canyon, but with your endorsement, we did it and survived! Hope our paths cross again. Mary and Terry

Ray - I certainly admire your photos and the fact that you still use film. I have gone to way of the digital world but still like to use film from time to time. I love your photos of Glacier Park - I live about 20 minutes away from there and feel inspired now to get over there again for a better look around!

Your pictures are beautiful!! I was just on Accuweather and saw your beautiful artwork. I then wanted to see more of them! I hope you are showing them in art shows or perhaps at festivals. I would love to see your gorgeous shots at the Winter Park Art Festival in Winter Park, FL. Have you been there? There are a lot of art events down here! Please continue taking these beautiful pictures! What camera do you use? I used to shoot with a Minolta 202 and a Minolta 7000 back in the SLR days, but now I only have a Kodak EasyShare 813. One day soon I hope to have a better one. I, too, take many, many nature shots, for in nature, there is always beauty. Thank you so much for sharing.

Ray. Your photos are truly exceptional. I saw four of them on Accuweather today and thought, "Who is this guy and are there more photos?" You really have an eye for landscape photography! I'm a hiker and deeply enjoy beautiful landscapes.

EJ Tipperreiter 24-Jun-2009 18:21
Mr. Mathis,
Congrats on your site and your success! I was a student of yours back in 96', does the name EJ Tipperreiter ring a bell!? In any case i have used your montra "Thoughts cause feelings not events" as well as "Its just an event" for the last 15 years, or at least since Health class! I was actually referencing those quotes to some co-workers just a minute ago and decided to type them into google and....THERE YOU WERE! In anycase it is nice to be able to say hello after all these years and see that you are indeed doing well, or so it would seem. Having said that i wish you and yours the best and want to let you know that while at 15 years old the whole "Thoughts cause feelings" thing may have mixed like oil and water...it has stuck with me and helped me through many rough times. Great talking to ya!

I JUST LOVE YOUR PICTURES, I THINK THESE ARE THE NICEST SHOTS I'VE EVER SEEN. I'M THINKING OF GETTING INTO PHOTOGRAPHY...YOU GOT ANY TIPS FOR ME?
IF YOU ARE EVER IN ONTARIO, CANADA, YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT GEORGIAN BAY SCENERY, VERY BREATH TAKING.
NOW COMES A TOUGH CHOICE, I WANT TO PURCHASE SOME OF YOUR PRINTS, BUT WHICH ONES, LOL.
LOOKING FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU.

Hey Mr Mathis, It's Brenda Brushaber (Berry) I live in San Diego, California and just started taking pictures myself. It is so beautiful here I just can't help myself. I looked at your gallery and WOW I was blown away. You seem to find beauty anywhere!
Bob Reynolds12-Jul-2008 02:20
Hi Ray,

I just stumbled across your galleries and was blown away by the quality and impact of your work. You have some amazing images in your collection. I was only able to view a small portion of your portfolio this time around (Pbase is running like a snail), but I will be back again.

I also enjoyed your commentary as well. I completely agree with what you said. I do think that photos such as this help to raise awareness & the need to keep these places natural and wild. I would hate to think that future generations might not be able to enjoy these wonderful landscapes as we do today. I'm sure that you will inspire many people, as you did me, to visit, photograph and hopefully help protect these one of a kind places.

Bob
