This is one of the most photogenic areas in the country, if not world. I always envy people seeing it for the first time because I know what a visual treat it will be. People come from all over the world, often during every season, just to see this place. It's not uncommon to find yourself surrounded by people from all over the world at overlooks. One of the favorite activities of many visitors is to arrive before sunrise to watch the first like hit the canyon walls and hoodoos. They often leave shortly after and miss what I think is some of the best light to photograph. As the sun rises, light starts to bounce off the shear walls of the east faces of the canyons, and reflect yellow and orange light back on hoodoos below, causing them to glow. That is my favorite type of light, as you might notice in many of the pictures in this gallery. Bryce can be hard to photograph because there can be very harsh shadows among the hoodoos depending on what you're including in an image. The more even the light is, the easier it will be for your camera's meter, and film, to handle.
