The most popular green refuges in Buenos Aires are Plaza San Martin and Parque Lezama.

Plaza San Martin commemorates The Liberator: General Jose de San Martin who liberated Argentina, Chile and Peru from Spanish colonial rule.

Parque Lezama is a leafy and tranquil park at the southern end of San Telmo which is regarded as the original site of the founding of Buenos Aires by Pedro de Mendoza in 1536.
In this park are situated several important buildings, including the Museum of National History and the exotic Iglesia Orthodoxa Rusa - the first Russian Orthodox Church in Latin America, built in 1899.
