The best way to orient oneself in this gigantic city
is to obtain a panoramic view from a high vantage point.
One good example is the summit of
CORCOVADO - a 710 metre high hunched-back mountain
surmounted by the towering statue of Christ the Redeemer.
SUGARLOAF - this also offers a 360 degree panoramic view of Rio.
It is an imposing granite sentinel at the entrance to Guanabara Bay
and gives an impressive bird's eye view of the city and the main beaches,
including a unique perspective of Corcovado and Christ the Redeemer.
