Maria Eva Duarte de Peron was an enigmatic and contradictory person
who was haunted by her illegitimacy and the poverty in which she was reared.

Her meteoric rise to power after meeting and falling in love with
Colonel Juan Peron is legendary.

She became the standard-bearer of the economically and socially disadvantaged,
and was most in her element addressing the masses from the balcony of the
Casa Rosada on Plaza de Mayo.

She is a saint to the down-trodden masses in Argentina despite her major shortcomings.
Her remains have eventually come to rest in the ostentacious family mausoleum
in the necropolis of La Recoleta Cemetarium, Barrio Norte.
