My memories of the Army Overseas Replacement Station can best be compared to a large airport terminal during a blizzard with no flights coming or going. Lots of open space with processing areas and sleeping areas. Everyone waiting to hear when the flight is about to leave. I was probably there for a day or two before moving on to Travis Air Force base for the commercial, well not exactly commercial, flight to Vietnam.
We stopped in Japan after a 10 1/2 hour flight. We arrived in Janpan at 9:30pm for what was supposed to be an hour stop but a replacement flight crew was not available so the layover ended up being 5 hours.
Then we were off again. This time our destination was Vietnam.
(I must have not taken a camera. There is a photographic gap between the time I left until I arrived at my initial post in Vietnam. Lots happened during that time but there are no pictures to go with them.)
