Southern Right Whale

Bancoora Beach Surf Coast Victoria

We decided to drive to a place which is not very well known called Bancoora Beach, not knowing what we may find to photograph.
We were so excited to find two Southern Right Whales frolicking approximately 150-200 metres offshore.
This is the very first time either of us had seen a whale so it was an amazing experience for us watching them through binoculars for about an hour.
Although we were not able to get closer captures we were so happy to get a few to remember this wonderful experience.
What a fantastic day we had!

Congratulations, David! That must have been very exciting. I nearly cried the first time I saw a whale, a humpback. It surfaced right beside our boat and I actually got hit with its spray when it exhaled. Would love to have seen the sperm whale pod that was seen off the coast of California today! I hope you get to see and photograph more. Great shots of these right whales. It is interesting to see its double blow spout.
