Smoke from Bushfires

Victoria Australia

1/160s f/6.3 at 61.0mm iso100

Here in Victoria we have experienced large bushfires once again this summer. At least 34 homes have been destroyed. The smoke from the fires has spread right across the state.

Late in the afternoon the southerly wind blows thick smoke through our valley cutting visibility to about 500m. These are two images taken from our backyard which normally has a beautiful view across the valley to the Dandenong Ranges in the distance.

Wow ~ the smoke has certainly darkened and colored the sky.... Hoping that it doesn't reach your home Barbara and David!

The smoke made its way over into South Australia as well Barbara.. not a sight we wish
on anyone, but a superb pair of images! With some luck, rain is on its way... v

There, as here, the summer wildfires seem worse each year. Say safe. V

I was going to say what a beautiful image until I read your caption. Well, it is still lovely, but the delight in the image is tempered by what is causing it. I hope things are brought under control soon. V

I hope these enormous and deadly fires can be brought under control. These photos
Are a grim reminder of the danger so many face every day.

You could say that's a lovely scene, except that it is caused by our bush fire heritage,,,
we have really copped it this year, hundreds of homes have been lost in this summer season..

WOW, Barbara that's two excellent images of your catastrophic fires. Hope the fires don't come near your home and that the firefighters will soon gain the upper hand.

Wow. As beautiful as that top capture is, I hope the damage and duration of the wildfire is minimized.
