In 2005 I designed a gallery scene and an animated crate effect that was used at the haunt, at ComicCon, and in a parade. The crate top popped open and a pair of monster hands reached out. Doug Nelson was also involved in the crate design and fabricated the mechanics for it. My gallery scene featured lenticular changing portraits from The Ghoulish Gallery. The gallery would go dark and all six portraits would simultaneously drop as strobe-lit "monsters" reached out at the patrons. Scott Jones was responsible for the electrical and air driven elements and contributed to the mechanism design. A number of other volunteers also help build, paint, and populate the set.
