In Seville each year on the 5th Of January they have the 'Cabalgata de los Reyes' or 'Cavalcade of the Kings'. This is a parade to celebrate the three kings that came to worship and bring gifts to baby Jesus 2,000 years ago (the epiphany). In Spain the traditional day for gift giving is the 6th of January when the three kings were said to have visited Jesus.
The cabalgata is huge and very commercial. The main purpose is for businesses to sponsor floats from which literally millions of candies are thrown into the eager crowd below. In Seville 100 tonnes of lollies are thrown. That's right 100,000kg!!!
In the photos you will see kids dressed in their best clothes, which you see often anyway, many with plastic bags to collect the candies and you even see people with upsidedown umbrellas to catch the candies too!
