Especially in residential neighborhoods, I saw more cats than in other cities. I saw no rats; on the other hand, I do not recall seeing garbage. The feral cats have short, coarse, dull, and somewhat sparse fur. The cats looked burly, not fragile. I petted one cat briefly, before it wandered off. A couple of cats sometimes climbed up or down a vine to get access to my hotel's courtyard, where they could sit in the sun, often on tables by which people sat to read newspapers, etc. People apparently paid no attention to the cats.
