The faithful across the street endeavor to respect your rights to voice your opinion without fear of recrimination and without questioning your patriotism. This effort is stretched to the limit when you persist in questioning our motives and our courage. Pacifism is a noble goal in a world where all of us cherish peace and foster respect for the beliefs and rights of others. Unfortunately, nirvana has not arrived. We live in a world where intolerance is prevalent and terrorists seek to secure their grip on the civilized world through death, destruction, and anarchy. Unfortunately, pacifism and appeasment are interpreted as a manifestation of victory by those who seek to subject all of us to tyranny. I am not prepared to submit or subject my children or grandchildren to a legacy of defeat. When you continue to depict the horrors of this war as examples of one-sided abuses by U.S. personnel, without displaying any comprehension or outrage against those who have tortured, maimed, and killed our young men and women, you display tendencies of self-hatred and dogmatic points of view which do not further the cause of peace, liberty, or security for all of us.
