"Behind Forgotten Eyes presents the stories of a small group of brave woman who came forward and broke the silence protecting a past that some still want to stay buried. Their story begins while Korea was groaning under the harsh colonial rule of Imperial Japan. The Japanese military coerced, tricked, and forced the woman of Korea into a brutal and systematic form of sexual slavery on an unimaninable scale, procuring more than 200,00 Korean girls to serve as 'comfort woman' for the Japanese soldiers on the front. Behind Forgotten Eyes combines first-hand accounts, from these aging Korean woman and former Japanese soldiers, with expert testimony of academics, social activists, and professionals from Japan, Korea and the United States in order to finally offer a candid look at an issue that has, thus far, been formally ignored by the Japanese government. Time is running out for these woman and their stories."
