HERE WE ARE ON JANUARY 28, 2010 and an ice storm has slammed into Lawton, Oklahoma. It started last night with steady rain which changed into freezing rain this morning. Trees, plants, electrical wires, etc soon had ice on them. The wind also picked up, so we have had a lot of power outages. And the weather people say this "Winter Wallop" will head east along Interstate 40 through Arkansas, Tennessee and on.
We have been lucky so far and hope the power stays on in our area.
I could not resist taking some pictures and here they are. Took about 80 but posting only a part of those pictures. Hope it gives you an idea of what its been like here.
UPDATE ON JANUARY 30, 2010: More pictures I took today of 36th Street. Gives you an idea of what our neighborhood looks like after the ice and the snow. Its not risen above freezing point, so the little snow that melts during the day freezes again overnight. This will carry on for a few more days.
FEBRUARY 11, 2010: We had steady snow showers today for several hours. Just pretty snow flakes which melted on sidewalks and roads, but accumulated on the lawns and plants. When it became dark, I took a few pictures outside my home; it was too cold to stay out and take more. What a pity; it was very pretty with snow on all the lawns and flower beds.
