This was an idea submitted to the city when they had asked for ideas for drawings that could be etched onto Manhole Covers. The theme was to be something like John Bloom. After studying his paintings and having worked in Dewitt since 1999, I combined several ideas trying to convey the John Bloom honest work ethic and surrounding farmland, the growth from community support, growth of industry, and a few local attractions (like the Little Tree Air-Freshener plant, the Catholic Church, the downtown theatre, the symbolic crossroads symbol, the library, and of course, the train which encircles it all.

It turns out to be more than the manhole etching technology could really do. I'm told they may still use my idea for a banner or something. Either way, it was fun translating a really likable town while incorporating the feel of another artist into a simple statement.
