I have been unable to identify this slimy mushroom. There were several specimen's scattered throughout the pine woods.
cap ~15cm convex, pale tan - firm but very slimy
stalk ~2-4cm thick, ~10cm tall - thick veil with vulva
gills - broadly adenate, wide spread, forking
unable to get spore print - the darn thing dissolved on me, turned to mush

Were these just rotted amanitas? Some obscure member of the hygophorous family?
