After experiencing great frustration by not being able to find a pupa out in the wild, despite examining hundreds of milkweed plants, my partner and I decided to bring a pair of caterpillars home to be able to capture this amazing process. Some research assured me that fresh milkweed and a large clean space would ensure the caterpillars a happy safe home. We named our pair Kevin and Keanu, after some unexciting Hollywood actors. Caterpillars don't seem to do much exciting to watch, so it seemed appropriate. Kevin was already almost 2 inches long and after only 1 day with us began his change.
