Harry was the first dog I ever got. I named him after Harry Nielsen and the Puppy Song. He was a boxer mix who never lost his zeal for play. Harry had a great ability to empathize with us emotionally. If you were sad, he was there - ready to lend a furry shoulder for you to cry on. And if you were bored, he was right there with some toy in his mouth ready to play.
After Chip's passing, Harry had seemed to mourn as much as any of us. That's when we decided to get a new puppy. It really did cheer Harry up, and he spent his last few months happily playing and leading the new lab puppy around. It was in the fall 2001, when at 12, he died of a sudden stroke.
