Nile Crocodile

These massive & impressive reptiles are the heirs to one of the oldest & most enduring lineages on the planet having a body plan which remains essentially unchanged from before the time of the dinosaurs.
Nile Crocodiles are Africa's largest reptile and the Mara crocs are some of the biggest on the continent. Whilst food is available throughout the year, river crossings during the annual Wildebeeste migration deliver large amounts of fresh meat upon which these giant crocs gorge. This seasonal glut of food, though short-lived allows the Mara river to support large numbers of monster crocs which feast for 3 months & fast for up to 9 months!
