Mida Creek

This is a large mangrove-fringed tidal-inlet fed from the sea by a narrow strait lying about 30 minutes drive south of Watamu. It supports a number of species including Sacred Ibis, Dimorphic Egret, Yellow-billed Stork & African Fish Eagle but is famed for its waders which include Greater & Lesser Sandplover, Curlew Sandpiper, Terek Sandpiper & of course the amazing Crab Plover.
The area is at its best between September & April but even in early August when I went (-the worst possible time) a few of all the specialities were still around.
