The images in this gallery were taken in august 2003 & july 2004 whilst on family summer holidays.
Clearly this is not the best time to go birding on Lesvos however the island still has a lot to offer the birder who is tied to a high summer beach holiday!!

Surprisingly there was quite a significant difference between early july & mid-august. In mid-august there was a reasonable return passage of waders including Temminck's Stint & Broad-billed Sandpiper as well as a large build-up of Greater Flamingo; many passerines were thin on the ground however. In early july Black-headed & Cretzschmar's Buntings were still quite plentiful (though moulting) as was Masked Shrike, whilst a few of the breeding waders & Krupers Nuthatch still had dependent young.
