A poor quality image which catches a snapshot of a bizarre interaction between a Short-eared Owl & a Kestrel. These two species compete for the same food resources & the wandering Owl had strayed into this Kestrel's airspace at dusk. The Kestrel shot in like a rocket grabbing the owl's right wing with both beak & talons.......I'm sure I heard the owl exclaim 'what the f*ck' before it regained its senses flexing up to strike the Kestrel with both talons. The Kestrel was bowled off into a spin before it regained its composure & flew off to a nearby rocky outcrop.
