A haar is an east coast Scots word for a sea-fog. Such mists invade from the sea enveloping the coast & reducing visibility drastically. As my birding time is always at a premium I had no choice but to go out & make the best of it.
In fact the sudden appearance of this Gannet fishing-fleet from out of the mist was, in life, quite an atmospheric scene.
