African Crowned Eagle

Shimba Hills NP, Kenya

With very powerfully muscled tarsi and massive hindclaws these impressive eagles can kill quite large mammal prey up to the size of female Bushbuck (30kg). Clearly they cannot lift prey of this weight and instead they butcher their larger prey and carry off the limbs and smaller parts to cache in a tree larder.
