A torrent flows through remnants of a once extensive Atlantic Oak forest.
Once the Inner Hebrides were extensively covered in rich Oak-predominant deciduous forest thick with ferns & lichens. This was almost a temperate Rain forest but being only about 10,000 years old (since the last ice-age) it is far too young to have developed a rich flora/fauna & as most of it has now been felled (whilst sheep ravage what is left) it never will!
