Famed for their guiding behaviour these birds will, at least in parts of their range, guide hunters to bee-nests where they expect to share in the spoils. This behaviour has never been observed in The Gambia. The famous guiding partnership with Ratels is in fact unproven & may simply be a myth which is repeatedly quoted in the literature without definite proof.
