Tanbi wetland is a large rather inaccessible mangrove complex full of good birds. One of the expensive 5 star Gambian hotels (The Coconut Residence) has a luxury pirogue which can be hired for a half-day. For £150 you get a crew, drinks, a superbly prepared meal & get to dictate where the boat goes > we headed into the Tanbi mangrove complex & saw some amazing birds. This is hardly budget birding & was really a thank you treat for my non-birding wife who graciously puts up with my nonsense.
