GN/BN Mansfield Branch

Photos of some of the remaining structures along the former GN/BN Mansfield Branch in central Washington. I still need to check out the mid section of Douglas Creek Canyon. There were several 12 degree horseshoe curves on the railroad that need to be explored. The branch left the mainline east of Rock Island, WA. For a history of the branch, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Northern_Railway:_Mansfield_Branch_%281909-1985%29

For some great photos of the branch in the BN era, see Blair Kooistra's website: http://undertheweatherblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/boxcar-grain-on-mansfield-branch-1983.html

Following the right-of-way in the canyon requires crossing the creek several times, where trestles used to be.
