Former Seaboard Air Line Railroad (SAL) mainline between Portsmouth, VA and Norlina, NC. Much of the line is still active under CSX, the segment between Roanoke Rapids and Norlina was abandoned in the 1980's. Also the bridge across the Roanoke River was abandoned after the 1967 formation of SCL. The line between Weldon and Roanoke Rapids is still active with a number of customers.
