Approaching the 238 milepost at Ferrol, the Norfolk & Western Class J No. 611 stares down a nearly 3/4 mile stretch of 1.5% grade while climbing towards the summit at North Mountain. Despite three diesels on the rear, the Roanoke-built 4-8-4 put on quite a show. We were grateful to see her run again today, given the events of the last 36 hours.
