Arthur

Westbound trains approach the Friendship Road grade crossing between Shawsville and Montgomery Tunnel. In the top photo the bracket mast signal is for the "Middle Arthur Crossover". This was an interlocking located approximately in the center of the Arthur middle track that extended from just west of Shawsville to the east portal of Montgomery Tunnel. Arthur Tower used to stand just around the curve on the south side of the tracks. The middle track was removed in the early 1960's shortly after steam operations ended on the N&W.
