Rocky Mount, NC

Now & Then - Rocky Mount, NC: Atlantic Coast Line E7A No. 542 pauses under the W. Raleigh Boulevard overpass with what is most likely Train No. 375, the Everglades, judging by the number of head-end cars. I'd estimate this photo to be from the early to mid-1950's as the classic purple and silver paint scheme became a thing of the past when Thomas Rice became ACL President in 1957. Fast forward nearly 60 years to April 12, 2014 as Amtrak 91 pauses at RMT for a station stop. I recalled having the ACL photo in my collection and quickly attempted to recreate it from memory.
