Singer

From the "You can't do that anymore" department is this shot of NS 930 running the wrong main at Singer, some 10 miles west of Roanoke. Not only are the N&W color position light signals gone, but the area is now off limits. Ten years ago this was a great place to sit and relax for a few hours and nobody would bother you. Unfortunately those days are now just a memory. The third unit back is a venerable C39-8 which judging by the exhaust, is pulling it's weight of loaded Herzog ballast cars. Image scanned from a 35 mm negative. March 8, 2003.
