These are the results of my first attempts at bird photography using the 100-400 mm lens. These are a pair of yellow vented bulbuls (pycnonotus goiavier) which visit the trees and shrubs in front and below my lab. After moving around with the camera for about 3 hrs I managed to get a couple of pretty close shots though the background begs to be much better than what you see... can't do much about the background because the trees are surrounded by buildings on all sides and all are painted white! All the photos are full frame reduced size images except for the take off one which is cropped from the centre. The birds are about 20cm long.
