Cooper's Hawk

North Georgia, USA

This Cooper's Hawk is a first for me. He landed in my dogwood tree and I thought he was one of the two red-tailed hawks that we always have here. Then I noticed he was smaller. When I walked to the window and realized I had never seen one of these before I ran as fast as I could to get my camera and by that time he flew to my neighbor's yard.

It is definitely not a red tail hawk, they truly have a redish tail, at least the ones we have here in CA do. How exciting Rachel
