Making Her Web

Crockford Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area

She's busy making her web for the evening. This is a female Micrathena gracilis, or spiny-back spider. Everything that you see IS the spider. Creepy, huh? I was THRILLED to see how the leaves sparkled like little golden balls of light in my viewfinger. :)

Outstanding photo! I love the colors and bokeh. That is the most unusual spider I've seen. I'll have to go google it.

Wow, what colors and bokeh!! Sure is a strange spider!

very nice shot, Rachel. Is the white bit hanging down the spider or some prey?

Very cool shot. Good subject isolation and awesome color in the bokeh.

How interesting! Is all of that the spider? The colors are pretty.

That is the strangest looking creature! Is it holding on to some prey? I can't figure it out.
