Red Knot in Larimer County, Colorado, September 2009

This adult Red Knot is apparently approaching full basic plumage. I'm sorry I could not photograph this rare bird better but was hindered by distance and poor digiscoping equipment. I found the bird on 4 Sep at Timnath Reservoir. Photos were taken through my Kowa TSN-4 telescope 5 Sep (row 1, shown with a Stilt Sandpiper in some images) and 7 Sep (row 2).

This is definitely a very rare migrant in Larimer County (my 353rd "life bird" for this county). Ironically, there is a specimen in the Denver Museum of Nature and Science collected 5 Sep 1962 also from Timnath Reservoir!
