This gull was photographed and digiscoped on 31 October 2008 at Horsetooth Reservoir near Fort Collins in Larimer County, Colorado. Expert opinions support an identification of 1st-cycle California Gull, but its small size is exceptional, closer to Ring-billed Gulls (seen in foreground of the first photo) than California Gulls (the predominant gull in this flock). There is an adult Herring Gull in the photos also, for comparison.
