Guatemala 2015 (Quetzal Tours)

This was Quetzal Tours and Cayaya Birding's "Cloud Forest" itinerary led by Knut Eisermann. A great time was had by all. From March 15-21, the tour tallied 198 species (49 species presented here) in 3 different Central Highlands locations (in the Departments of Sacatepequez, Baja Verapaz and Alta Verapaz) and a brief visit to the low elevation dry thornscrub habitat in the Motagua River Valley (Department of El Progreso). Additional birds photographed on March 13-14 prior to the tour can be viewed at www.pbase.com/quetzal/guat_sacatepequez2015.

Bird sound recordings made during this tour have been posted to www.xeno-canto.org. The set of 38 recordings (including 33 "foreground" species, 1 additional "background" species and 2 unidentified "mystery" sounds) can be accessed at http://www.xeno-canto.org/set/991
