This bridge was built by King Amanullah Khan in 1923.
It is still called by the Hartel Bridge because it was constructed under supervision of German engineer William Hartel. who was also responsible for building the Dar-ul-Aman palace.
The bridge is still in its shape but government has restricted vehicles to move on it in order to avoid harming it. and an alternative bridge is built near to it which is being used now.
