Back in "beautiful downtown" Bahuichivo, I spent the day walking around taking pictures and furthering my developing friendship with Jose. He lives in Temeris but works in Bahuichivo, supporting himself and his wife by fixing electronics from his hotel room with nothing but a digital multimeter and a great brain!

We could get to Temeris via El Chepe in an hour, but Jose takes a van that runs from Creel to Temeris on the road that doesn't exist (see previous galleries), a three hour trip. The luggage got tied on top and even the dog was put up there! We hardly ever got over 20kph as we traveled the forest road, not unlike so much of Colorado. We dropped off and picked up indians and mestisos at rancheros and pueblos unserved by any other way.

Arriving in Temeris I found out that Jose lives in a one room home insulated with cardboard and with a dirt floor. I spent the night at a motel - with a window but having a bucket flush system on the loo. The next day, Sunday, I think I had Holy Water. It was double distilled aguave moonshine, "clandestino." He then went and got huge thin Mexican style steaks, potatoes, and of course, tequilla. Some of his friends came by and we spent the day improving our language of the other. I also learned of the legendary, wild chiltipin and how to make "agua de chile" with it. Jose and his buds were impressed with the gringo's ability to assimilate the agua!

In the mid-afternoon I caught the little van to the Temeris RR station, some 10 kilometers and 30 minutes away. The rest of the pictures are of the afternoon and night ride to Los Mochis.
