I was reading a few days ago that the one thing that makes a photo great is the fact that it leaves some ambiguity, some puzzle, something that's unanswered for the viewer to think about. Even with the explanation of hot springs in winter, the symbolic value of a phantom herd moving up into the clouds is powerful and fantastic. Nice balance between photo realism and abstraction. Great image!

Thank you - what a day brightener to unexpectedly come across the beauty you have captured. I wonder if you sell your photos! Patience and an appreciation for the wonder of nature. If you haven't been to the Buffalo River in NW Arkansas you might consider heading this way. Beauty abounds in different ways every season. It might not be the West, but it's hard to think you wouldn't be deeply touched by the marvels hidden in the Ozarks. I feel lighter - happier - impressed and thankful. - - thank you - I feel touched in a quiet and peaceful way by your photos. Looking at such beauty makes me feel humbled and satisfied with life.
