An Old Friend Revisited 2006

From the ancient bristlecone pine forest near Mt. Washington in Great Basin National Park. Some of these trees are thought to be nearly 5000 years old.
My third visit to this grove, but the first from the western approach via the gnarly road up Mt. Washington itself. Still a difficult hike to the grove from the west side.
Will try to put up some more images in the "From the Commute" gallery.

Michael: I've never seen one of the Bristlecone's; we've got some really old Junipers here in Oregon high desert country. I love them, too. Gnarly, tough, elegant, ancient old things. Keep up the good works. Lee
