Just missed!! As in the previous image, I was again trying for shallow depth of field as you can see fom this image the focus point is about 1mm in front of where I wanted to be. (this little tree frog is tiny - for scale he's standing on a pencil eraser).

BTW - since I hand hold 99% of the time when I shoot macro, the way I focus is to set the lens on manual at a distance that frames the subject correctly and then still my body as much as possible and focus but shifting myself ever so slightly forwards and backwards.
