Crop of a previously posted image to show the amazing haze penetration of IR -- my estimate is that the mountains in the background (above the port and behind the closer low hills) were slightly over 45 miles to the WNW of my shooting location in Cape Town. The IR images allow viewing of these features much better than I could see with my eyes, and far better than was recorded using visible light on my other cameras.

BTW -this was shot with a 50mm f1.7 panasonic lens, 850nm filter and circular polarizer.
