Chez George

Washington DC

People at the Washington Monument at night. I think this will be a required stop when leaving for home from downtown DC. One of the best people watching places ever.

I like it. The form against stone with just enough blur to tell us these are live people and not statues...

I wish I had more than just a week to visit the city; as you say, it is a facinating place for studying people - not only the live one's but the historic ones as well.

The Craftsmanship of the folks who designed and constructed D.C. is still self-evident; not only in the monuments themselves - but in the way they carefully chose the location and arrangement of each in relation to the others.

Consider the relation between the Jefferson Monument and the Whitehouse, for example. It appears the person sitting in the Oval Office is supposed to be able to look out over the tidal basin and see Jefferson, and his ideals, looking back at them.

It is a facinating place. You're lucky to have the opportunity to study it.
