If you follow those little foot spikes up, it almost
appears to be an M.C. Escher shot, as they look as if
they are going the wrong direction at the very top ...

Oh, this picture is so nice I can't believe it! The lines and geometric shapes are cool. I don't see the Escher connection, but what the heck. The thought of climbing those bolt steps is terrifying (fear of heights), but I'm sure the view from the top is nice. About the bright pentagons...You probably have discounted those as instances of lens flare, but check out this alternate theory:http://www.pbase.com/listorama/image/60038228 (also read the gallery text).
